In his verse on DJ Khaled's new song "They Don't Love You No More," Jay-Z takes a thinly veiled shot at Drake by calling him "soft." The former Brooklyn Nets owner's diss is as follows:

"Haters wanna ball, let me tighten up my drawstring
Wrong sport, boy, you know you soft as a lacrosse team."

Jay-Z is likely responding to several disses that Drake has dished out in recent months.

In doing so, Jay-Z may have indirectly angered the lacrosse world more than his intended target. After the song made its rounds, Major League Lacrosse was predictably unhappy.

In a statement to MTV news, an MLL spokesperson set the record straight

"Lacrosse is often called the fastest sport on two feet. Players are on the field dodging and shooting balls at over 100 miles per hour. With that said we don’t think Jay-Z knows what he’s talking about when he calls Lacrosse ‘soft’ I can guarantee you it is anything but a ‘soft’ sport."

But that wasn't all. The statement also contained a challenge for the 44-year-old.

“Mr. Carter would not last one minute on a lacrosse field during a match and he is more than welcome to come to any of our games and try."

While it would be great to watch Jay-Z take the field during an MLL game, he probably doesn't have much time to train after announcing that he and Beyonce will be going on tour together this summer.

But in case he might be interested, here's a taste of the game's more rugged aspect:

And for what it's worth, two of the toughest players in sports history -- NFL Hall of Famer Jim Brown and John Ferguson, one of the NHL's greatest enforcers -- were big-time lacrosse players.
