He's only been in Tampa Bay for a few months, but cornerback Darrelle Revis is already getting an entire island named after him (apparently losing to the Jets wasn't enough to anger fans yet).

The cornerback will be honored at a ceremony Thursday, in advance of the squad's first home game of the 2013 season, according to a press release.

"I'm honored and humbled to receive this special honor from the City of Treasure Island," said Revis in a statement. "Ever since I became a Buccaneer, the support I've received from the Tampa Bay community has been tremendous. I'll do my best to live up to this honor on Sunday afternoon in our home opener against the New Orleans Saints."

The honor will last for only a day, according to the announcement.

Treasure Island Mayor Bob Mining, in the statement, joked that on Revis Island, "You don’t need any sunscreen because ... you're always covered."

When Revis was traded to the Bucs from the Jets earlier this year, the franchise put a picture of him on the front of its website with the words "Treasure Island. Darrelle Revis (CB). It's a Bucs Life."

Revis had one tackle and two passes deflected in the Bucs' 18-17 loss on Sunday.
