Oft-maligned Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez made his debut in Single A ball Tuesday night for the Charleston RiverDogs, the latest on his road to recovery and eventual return to the Bronx Bombers. Sadly for him, he went 0 for 2 and wasn't exactly well-received by the crowd, even though he was adding some star power to their home team.

Check out the not-so-Southern-Hospitality welcome he received:

To be fair, he was also mobbed for autographs by fans who seemed pretty excited to have him there. A standing-room-only crowd of 8,255 showed up at Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park, The New York Post reported.

After the game, Rodriguez seemed pretty calm about the results. “It almost feels like March 1 for spring training,” Rodriguez told reporters. “That’s basically the approach.”

He is expected to report back to New York next month.
