High school basketball powerhouse Christ the King got a special visit from a well known supporter, 50 Cent, according to a report this week in the New York Daily News.

50 Cent, according to the article, grew up with the high school's assistant hoops coach Mark McCarroll and the coach had asked him to stop by and speak to the kids.

“The school went into kind of like a frenzy, because he showed up just as the bell rang,” Christ the King head coach Joe Arbitello told the newspaper. “People were hearing that 50 Cent was coming by and people got really excited.”

The rapper/entrepreneur reportedly posed for pictures with the players and stuck around to chat with McCarroll.

Christ the King won the boys New York state Federation basketball championship in March, beating Long Island Lutheran, 73-64, in the title game.
