As if Miami Heat fans needed any help remembering how close their team is to another title, a new contest sponsored by the team should help supporters keep track.
Above the entrance to American Airlines Arena are a selection of basketball hoops wrapped in white paper. After each Miami playoff win, one of the hoops will be removed and hidden somewhere in the metropolitan South Florida area.
The team will provide fans with clues via Twitter, and fans must take a picture with the hoop and post a photo to Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag WHITEHOTHOOP. For each game the Heat win, one of the fans who posts a photo with the corresponding hoop will receive 25,000 American Airlines Advantage Miles.
The first hoop was hidden at a Miami Tiger Direct store.
