Whenever you can acquire a Hall of Famer in a trade, it's probably a good move. Especially when that player has already been inducted into the National Lacrosse League Hall of Fame, and that player is yourself.

Buffalo Bandits general manager Steve Dietrich did just that this week. The 43-year-old former goaltender and NLL Hall of Famer most recently played for the Toronto Rock, so technically the Rock owned his rights.

But Dietrich wanted to make sure the Bandits had a backup goalie in case both of the team's netminders went down following Friday's roster freeze. So he swapped a 2015 sixth-round entry draft pick in exchange for the rights to himself. Pretty savvy move, huh?

It's important to note that Dietrich's move is just in case of an emergency, and he likely won't have to come out of retirement for Buffalo. So don't get any ideas, John Elway.
