You may remember the Cal Tech basketball program's embarrassingly long losing streak. The Beavers gained much publicity for their decades-long, 310-game losing streak.

That string of losses ended in 2011, and the school's dubious honor of longest span without a win was bestowed upon Cal Tech's hapless baseball squad.

Before this weekend, the Beavers had not won a baseball game since Feb. 15, 2003, when they beat CSU-Monterey Bay. That amounted to nearly 10 years and 228 games.

But thanks to a solid outing from freshman Daniel Chou in his first career start, the baseball program's losing streak is now history as well. Behind Chou's complete game, Cal Tech beat Pacifica College on Saturday in the second game of a doubleheader, 9-7.

"It was almost as if they had been there before," coach Matthew Mark told the Associated Press.

While the Beavers ended this losing streak, another embarrassing streak remains. Cal Tech has lost 463 consecutive games to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponents, with its last conference victory coming in 1988.
