It's every D-Leaguer's goal to get promoted to the NBA, but Fab Melo's recent call-up is not exactly how he thought he would make it.

Per NBA D-League regulation, the Boston Celtics called up Melo this week to treat him for a concussion. The D-League requires a player to be recalled to the parent squad if he requires examination by the team's medical staff.

Boston labeled the injury a "non-sports-related concussion," which had people wondering what exactly it was.

As it turns out, Melo injured himself while walking into a doorway.

"Being seven feet, I always duck entering doorways," Melo said. "But I got distracted."

So Melo walked into a doorway, hit himself in the head and then got called up to the Celtics. What a turn of events.

Luckily for the 7-footer, who was in street clothes for Boston's game against Memphis on Wednesday, Celtics coach Doc Rivers wasn't angry with the ordeal.

"I think, what did you have, 'Manny being Manny'?" Melo said. "I think five years when Fab is playing terrific for us here, we're going to have some 'Fab being Fab' moments. He just got a head start."
