Denver Mayor Michael Hancock added injury to insult this week when he hurt himself before he could perform Ray Lewis' famed pre-game dance, the Squirrel.

As part of a bet with Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, Hancock promised he would do the veteran linebacker's popular dance if the Baltimore Ravens beat the Denver Broncos in their AFC Divisional matchup last weekend. Sure enough, Baltimore prevailed and Hancock had to bust out his moves.

However Hancock's spokeswoman, Amber Miller, told the Denver Post that Hancock was hurt "during pre-game warm-ups." As it turns out, Hancock tore his right quadriceps this week when his cowboy boot got caught in a stair while he was coming off stage at the National Western Stock Show.

Fear not, Baltimore fans, because Hancock may be down but he is not out. Sticking with the sports metaphor, Miller said Hancock "expected to be on the field in the second half, ready to carry out the game plan and fulfill his end of the wager."

Hopefully Miller's "second half" won't be as lackluster as that of the Broncos on Saturday.

(H/T to Game On!)
