It's not easy to find someone who supports Alex Rodriguez these days. The Yankees third baseman was benched by his manager, recently turned down by a few women at Yankee Stadium and even trashed by Donald Trump.

So it's nice to hear that Rodriguez is finally getting some uplifting advice from none other than his old pal, Kobe Bryant. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar told ESPNLosAngeles.com that he and Rodriguez, who met on the set of a commercial a few years ago, chatted a few days ago. Bryant's advice to Rodriguez was simple.

"I just say to him, 'You're Alex Rodriguez. You're A-Rod. You're one of the best to ever do it,'" Bryant told ESPNLosAngeles.com. "I think sometimes he kind of forgets that and wants to try to do the right thing all the time. Which is the right team attitude to have. But other times you really have to put your head down and say, 'Hell with it' and just do your thing."

Rodriguez, no stranger to postseason struggles, is performing especially poorly in the 2012 playoffs. He's hitting .139 (3-for-23) with no RBIs.

Bryant said sometimes Rodriguez loses sight of his overall abilities, and a reminder is always helpful.

"We're different," Bryant said. "But you're talking about, 'He's one of the best to ever play.' I think really the difference is, sometimes he forgets he's the best. ... Where, I don't."

This isn't the first time Bryant has offered his counsel to Rodriguez. Last winter Bryant recommended the experimental German procedure Orthokine for Rodriguez.
