After a long and painful offseason, Arkansas AD Jeff Long (right) is doing some pre-season damage control.

Knowing that his Razorbacks will be the subject of much attention during the year, Long is attempting to avoid any and all bad publicity. But is he over-stepping his bounds with his latest policy?

On Monday morning, Long tweeted that students and fans must have their signs approved in advance.

A long-standing tradition in college football, creative signs are welcomed at most stadiums. But with Arkansas' troubled offseason, the school wants to make sure that what fans bring into the stadium is appropriate.

After the sign policy aroused suspicion, Long tweeted that it had actually been in place for five years and it was meant to protect children and television viewers.
