Regan Smith didn't have the race he would have liked on Sunday in Indianapolis, as the 28-year-old finished in 18th place at the Brickyard 400.

Perhaps more notable than Smith's finish, however, was the lettering on his car.

Smith and his Denver-based sponsor, Furniture Row, chose to paint the names of the 12 victims of last week's shooting in Aurora, Colorado on Smith's No. 78 Chevrolet Impala. The vehicle also included the inscription, "For Those Lost, Those Injured And Countless Acts of Bravery 7/20/12."

"To see those 12 names on our car was quite emotional," Smith said. "They shouldn't have been on our car. Those 12 people should have been watching the race today or doing something else on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. It hurts and we all deeply mourn this unspeakable tragedy."
