Perhaps the most comical exchange of the first half of the MLB season occurred one month ago, when a Canadian reporter asked 19-year-old Nationals rookie Bryce Harper about his favorite beer. Harper's response? "I'm not answering that. That's a clown question, bro."

Harper's nonchalant attitude and unique phrasing drew raves from fans and media members alike.

During a recent interview with 106.7 The Fan, Harper provided some clarity to his response.

"I give everything I can every single day and I don't wanna go out, I don't wanna party, I don't wanna drink or anything like that,” Harper said. “So, when someone asks me a question that, I think it's a little disrespectful and, you know, it was the first thing that came to my mind. Like I said, my body is a temple and I'm not going to put anything in it that will affect me or the way I play because I want to give everything I can for this team and this city every single day."

Very mature for a young player who appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated when he was 16.

Still, none of this hoopla stopped Harper from banking on the "clown question." Within weeks the phrase was trademarked and T-shirts were made.

You can't blame Harper, though. The phrase is pretty catchy.
