Some guys have all the luck.

Will Middlebrooks isn't letting the Red Sox doormat status in the AL East stop him from becoming a Boston folk hero.

The 23-year-old from Texas joined Enos Slaughter (1938) as the only two Major Leaguers since 1900 with extra base hits in their first five games.

Now Middlebrooks is getting the tabloid treatment.

Gayle Fee and Laura Raposa, the ladies who write about ballplayers' dirty laundry for the Boston Herald, report Middlebrooks is already getting hitched.

By the way, it's not to the girl next door.

The Red Sox third baseman became engaged on New Year's Eve to his longtime girlfriend, Ann Lux, who just so happens to be a former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader.

Lux left her gig with Jerry Jones' favorite NFL franchise to start her new life and organize wedding plans. She announced her "retirement" from the Cowboys' pom-pom squad in a letter on the team's website, saying she was looking forward to becoming a "baseball wife."

Middlebrooks and Lux are from the same hometown area of Texarkana, Texas, and they have known each other since they were both 12 years old.
