Clark Kellogg isn't up in arms over missing out on the opportunity to broadcast his son's NCAA Tournament games. While lesser men might have blown a gasket when informed they've been assigned to other matchups, Kellogg said he never asked for the gig and honestly doesn't really want it.

"I'd rather just watch his games as a dad," Kellogg told the USA Today.

Nick Kellogg, Clark's son, plays guard for 13th seed Ohio University which upset Michigan and South Florida over the weekend to reach the Sweet Sixteen.

Dad got a text from Nick when the seeding was first announced asking him to come to Nashville, Clark says he told his son he was headed elsewhere. It turns out the lead analyst for CBS worked first round games in Greensboro, North Carolina.

While Nick is headed to St. Louis for a matchup against Midwest region No. 1 seed North Carolina on Friday, his old man won't be in the building.

Instead, CBS is sending Clark and his broadcast partner Jim Nantz to Atlanta for coverage of No. 1 overall seed Kentucky's games in Atlanta. NBA broadcasters Marv Albert and Steve Kerr will handle the TV microphones in St. Louis.

Although it could have made for magical TV, Kellogg stressed to USA Today that it wasn't a big issue in his mind.

"That was never on my radar. I didn't ask. I'd go where I was assigned. If I'd had his region, it would have been an added blessing — and a challenge." Kellogg tells the paper his son "would have been thrilled" if he'd called his games, and it's "something Nick would have relished probably more than me."

Wait 'till next year.

Assuming Ohio doesn't reach the Final Four this year, which is a monster long shot, the Bobcats are young and in position to return to the Field of 68 next year. So father and son may yet get another chance to live at least the son's fantasy out next year.
