John Mayberry Jr. is going to be hearing an entire new breed of heckling. The Phillies outfielder turned to his agent in an attempt to hook him up with a hot Hollywood starlet.
The New York Post reports the details: An agent for Mayberry sent e-mails to a rival agency in order to set up a date between the ballplayer and actress Antoinette Nikprela, famous for her role as a mermaid in Pirates of the Caribbean.
"I hate to even be sending you this e-mail, and I'm quite embarrassed to say the least, but we have a young client on the Philadelphia Phillies who asked us if we knew any agents at Innovative Artists and could connect him to Antoinette Nikprelaj. I know you’re not a dating or set-up service, but John Mayberry Jr. (Phillies OF) would love to meet Antoinette or invite her to a baseball game sometime. Would this be possible?"
The agent also included a bio of Mayberry, just in case the 24-year-old Albanian beauty didn't grow up a baseball fan.
The Phillies outfielder is hitting .262 with 13 homers and 44 RBI's in 84 games for baseball's best team. Mayberry's father was a two-time All-Star with the Kansas City Royals in the mid 1970s.
Mayberry can buy a ticket to see Nikprela in her upcoming film "Real Steel." She plays a fight fan in the boxing drama set in the near-future where 2,000-pound humanoid robots do battle. Sounds like a great date idea for Mayberry, the mermaid, and the matchmaker.
