Life is good for Derek Jeter, so good in fact Yankees fans are honoring the captain with a personal touch.

Is there a bigger tribute than naming your child or pet after someone?

Thirty-three dogs in New York City are registered under the name "Jeter." That might not seem like a lot, but keep in mind, just one licensed dog is named A-Rod.

The New York Times reports, via the Social Administration, that last year 47 baby boys around the country were named "Jeter," an increase from 39 in 2009.

But Jeter's total amounts to just 4.97 percent of the babies named after Mickey Mantle in 1957. Mantle's 1957 MVP and World Series win resulted in 944 babies being named after the slugger.
