Ron Artest has an interesting take on the facts of life. The Lakers star says he's not romeo with the ladies because of a failed childhood romance.

The player who will soon be known as Metta World Peace, appearing as a guest radio DJ on KCRW in Los Angeles added his heart was broken when a girl rejected him at the tender age of 12.

Artest explained his heartache to the Los Angeles Times.

"You know what? I've been with my wife for 17 years," he said. "And the girlfriend I had right before her, when I was 12, kind of broke my heart. I never actually kissed this girl. I had this girl and I never kissed her, so I broke up with her when I was 12 and then I met my wife when I was 14, so I never really gave myself to anybody 100% -- not even my wife."

Artest, 31, went on to say that music has a big impact on his performance during games. The man who is spreading World Peace claimed he must be careful selecting songs to listen to before games, in order to stay focused on the court.
