Justin Verlander did all he could to help the Detroit Tigers win Game 3 of the ALCS on Tuesday. He pitched 8.1 innings, allowing just one run on three hits. And even after he stepped off the mound, he was still working his magic for his club.

With two outs in the top of the ninth inning, cameras caught Verlander vigorously rubbing the head of trainer Doug Teter in the dugout.

"[Teter] actually had hair before Verlander started doing that," joked TBS broadcaster Ernie Johnson.

Verlander's good luck charm worked, as a few minutes later Phil Coke struck out Raul Ibañez to end the game.

Verlander is no stranger to bizarre superstitions. Before every start, he devours three crunchy taco supremes, a cheesy gordita crunch and and a Mexican pizza.
