It's was a tough week for David Beckham. First, in a surprise development, Beckham was left off the Olympic soccer team in his native Great Britain.

Then, his LA Galaxy team lost a tough match to the San Jose Earthquakes. Towards the end of the match, Beckham took a corner kick that was knocked out of bounds by San Jose midfielder Sam Cronin. Cronin was rattled on the play after a collision with A.J. DeLaGarza. Cronin lay on the ground for about 10 seconds, at which point Beckham kicked the ball at him. The incident earned Beckham a yellow card and set off a scuffle between the teams.
