At the 2003 Bank of America Colonial in Fort Worth, Annika Sorenstam did something that hadn't been done in 58 years: A woman playing a PGA Tour event.

Sorenstam joined Babe Didrikson Zaharias in the record books and earned plenty of cheers. But some male golfers such as Vijay Singh and Nick Price grumbled about it.

Sorenstam shot one-over-par 71 in the opening round, which was better than 27 men in the field. She followed up with a 74 the next day to miss the cut by four strokes, but earned praise and respect for making this attempt.
