It appears the sharks are back. After a man was reportedly bitten in the ankle by a shark at a Massachusetts beach on Monday, wildlife experts in Boston confirmed they are tracking nine great white sharks off the state's coast.
In what looks like the first attack by a great white shark in Massachusetts since 1936, a man was taken to a Boston hospital on Monday afternoon to treat an ankle injury.
According to the Boston Herald, witnesses said they saw a dorsal fin break near where the man was bodysurfing.
Three weeks ago, a shark appeared in the water directly behind a kayaker in a beach about 20 miles down the coast from where Monday's incident took place.
State officials noted that an increase in seal populations has drawn sharks closer to the shore.
