It's not yet officially the dog days of summer, but in America's finest city, they don't wait around.
Forget the Olympics, San Diego hosted the 7th Annual Dog Surfing Competition on the dazzling Southern California shore over the weekend. The Telegraph reports over 50 dogs from big to small attempted to hang four paws without the dreaded wipe-out.
Man's best friend(s) was placed into three categories: small, large and tandem dogs. Each mutt participated in 10-minute heats, with scoring based on their two best waves.
Winners received vacation packages to the Loews Coronado Bay Resort and doggie treats. No word yet on whether they'll be taking their owners on the prize trip.
